A ceramic-to-metal electrical feedthrough combines conductors, an insulating ceramic and a metal interface. It provides an electrical path through an enclosure while maintaining the specified seal and isolation between conductors and housing.

Define the pin arrangement, installation method and operating environment together. Single-pin power and multi-pin signal connections can require different materials, spacing and inspection plans.

Application contexts

Vacuum equipment, instrumentation, industrial furnaces and sealed electrical enclosures. Each application requires its own temperature, pressure and electrical verification.

Common questions

Is a feedthrough the same as a removable connector?

A feedthrough creates a path through the sealed boundary. It may have connector interfaces, but the sealing assembly and the detachable connection are separate design considerations.

What belongs in a hermeticity requirement?

State the test medium, measurement method, units and acceptable leak rate, together with test conditions and inspection coverage. The word hermetic alone does not define an acceptance test.

Material properties and another design’s test results are not a rating for your assembly. Requirements belong on the agreed drawing and acceptance plan.
